Mook Bangalore, Ph.D., assistant professor of environmental policy at the School of Public Policy at Penn State, will present the EEEP Seminar Series, “Flood Impacts and Dam Releases in Nigeria” on November 13, 2024.

Abstract: “Flood impacts are increasing across sub-Saharan Africa. This talk will pitch a new idea to understand how dams increase vulnerability to flood risk across the region, with a focus on Nigeria.”

Speaker Bio: Mook Bangalore is an assistant professor of environmental policy at the School of Public Policy at Penn State. His research focuses on the relationship between environment and development and explores how households across the Global South are affected by environmental change and the climate crisis. Previously, he was a postdoctoral researcher at the University of California, Santa Barbara and Princeton University and worked within the Climate Change Chief Economist Office and Policy Unit at the World Bank. He received his doctoral degree from the London School of Economics and holds an undergraduate degree from Rutgers University.
